It's kindergarten registration time. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors!
Step 1: Children must be five years old on or before September 30, 2025 to be eligible.
Complete Online Enrollment Form: Please follow the steps outlined on the Hanover County Public Schools (HCPS) Student Enrollment page. If you need assistance completing the online enrollment form, our Family Engagement and Welcome Center is ready to support you. Please complete this form to request assistance. We recommend that families needing language support please contact the HCPS Welcome Center at (804) 365-4618 or via email.
Step 2: Enrollment Appointment: After completing the online enrollment form, you will receive an email advising you to contact your child’s zoned school to schedule an enrollment appointment. The purpose of the scheduled appointment is to provide all necessary documentation required, including, but not limited to, a photo ID, an original birth certificate, and proof of residency. We encourage rising kindergarten parents to schedule their enrollment appointment between April 14–25, 2025.
Step 3: Mechanicsville Elementary School Kindergarten Screening Day: Bring your child to Mechanicsville Elementary School on Monday, April 28 either between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. or between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. This day is critical as it will inform us on classroom placement. All children attending will receive free books, letter magnets, and math counters!
