Library

Welcome to the MES Library Media Center! Our librarian, Ms. Banton, collaborates with teachers and aligns library curriculum to reinforce the content students learn in class, while also promoting collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. Students will develop information, research, and digital literacy skills by participating in a variety of activities using both print and digital resources. Opportunities to use digital tools, like Seesaw, Adobe Express for Education, Google Docs, and Book Creator, will give students various outlets to apply and share their knowledge.

During weekly check out, students will choose from a collection of over 12,000 books. From picture books to chapter books, students have access to fiction and nonfiction at a variety of reading levels. Most importantly, students develop an interest in the books they choose, which inspires their passion for literature.

Policies and Procedures

All MES students may check out books during their classroom's weekly library time. Kindergarten and first-grade students may check out one book per week. Second through fifth grade students may check out two books per week. In order to check out a new book every week, students must return their library books by their weekly library time. When a student returns a book late, they may visit the library during open check-out from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. to return and exchange the books for new ones.

If a student's book is lost or damaged, a notice will be sent home with the replacement cost for the book. MES accepts exact change and checks payable to MES.
