Amy Robinson

Amy RobinsonDr. Amy Robinson is in her twentieth year as an administrator at Mechanicsville Elementary School. She served as the assistant principal from 2000 to 2006 and has been the principal since the fall of 2006 to present. Dr. Robinson began her career as a first grade teacher in Hanover County at Washington Henry Elementary School. She then moved to Chesapeake, Virginia where she served as a kindergarten teacher in the city of Portsmouth. 

Dr. Robinson is a former REB Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership recipient. This award allowed her to take staff members to San Antonio, Texas to be trained by Eric Jensen in how the brain reacts to poverty and how to help all students be successful.

Dr. Robinson grew up in Mechanicsville and is a graduate of Lee-Davis High School. She received her bachelor of science in elementary education from Longwood. She received her master’s degree and Ph.D from Old Dominion University. She currently lives in Richmond with her husband and two children, and she is a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
